SWSH Media Center Author Visit: Ron Magill Informational Flyer
I designed this 3-part infographic flyer for Ron Magill's 'The Pride of a Lion' author visit, while also taking on the responsibilities of organizing and hosting the event. This project encompassed all stages, from initial planning and coordination to marketing and execution, demonstrating my ability to manage a comprehensive event from start to finish.
Recognizing the value of visual storytelling, I chose the infographic format to break down the key information about the book and the author into digestible and engaging sections for the promotional flyer.
The overall design prioritizes visual hierarchy and a clear flow of information, guiding the reader through the infographic and encouraging them to learn more about the book and the author visit. Created using Canva, this project leveraged the platform's user-friendly interface and extensive library of design elements to efficiently produce a visually appealing and informative flyer. The flyer was distributed via email to the school community, posted on the Schoology learning management system for student access, and shared across the school's social media platforms to maximize reach and engagement. Beyond the flyer design and distribution, my role included all logistical aspects of the author visit, from scheduling and communication with the author to on-site event management and hosting.
This project showcased my ability to translate complex narratives into engaging visual formats, utilize design tools effectively, implement a multi-platform distribution strategy, and manage all facets of a successful author visit.

Event Details and Credibility: The first page serves as the event's introduction, prominently featuring Ron Magill's name, the date and location (April 3, 2025, at the SWSH Media Center), and his title as Communication Director at Zoo Miami. Including a quote from Mireya Mayor and the "Editors' Pick" badge lends credibility and highlights Magill's recognized expertise in wildlife. The 'Consider it Booked' tagline adds a playful touch and encourages immediate action.

Setting the Stage: The second page introduces the book's title and core themes – survival, fear, and family – immediately capturing attention and establishing the narrative's emotional depth. The bold typography and evocative imagery of the lioness and cub create a strong visual hook, enticing students to attend.

K'wasi's Journey, Author, and Emotional Connection: The final page combines the inspiring story of K'wasi, a lion cub who overcame adversity, with information about Ron Magill and the emotional intelligence conveyed in his writing. Including a quote from the author adds a personal touch and reinforces the book's message of resilience. The placement of the quote near a photograph taken by the author creates a direct connection with the audience.
