Counterculture Chic: A Fashion Narrative
This collage is more than just a styled outfit; it's a visual story. I wanted to capture that feeling of counterculture chic, where rebellion meets high fashion. Think punk-inspired details mixed with the ethereal beauty of a Lisa Says Gah organza maxi dress. It's about creating those unexpected pairings that really resonate.
You'll see a vintage Harley Davidson leather jacket juxtaposed with Matisse studded mules – that's the kind of aesthetic matching I love to explore. Then there are the special touches: archived Sandy Liang clips, a Heaven by Marc Jacobs waist chain, a Sister Jane sparkly heart bag, Prada sunglasses, and Yayoi Kusama's "I Like Myself" book. And, of course, the limited edition Sandy Liang Monchhichi, sporting its own Sandy Liang outfit, adding a playful and collectible element. The inspiration for this collage stems from the themes of individuality and self-expression found in Yayoi Kusama's book. These pieces, excluding the Glossier lip balm, Dedcool perfume, and Monchhichi doll, are all available for purchase on my e-commerce shop.
I'm drawn to indie brands and designer finds, and I love to see how they can work together. This collage demonstrates my ability to create unique outfit collages that tell a story. It's about brand identification and understanding the nuances of different aesthetics. And, of course, there's that nod to Y2K style and a hint of vintage inspiration with the doll and the "Body-Festival" text.
